Intangible cultural heritages performed in Da Lat
Date: 01/31/2013
Vietnam’s five intangible cultural heritages of humankind were performed in Da Lat on January 25.

It was the first opportunity for local people and international visitors to watch art troupes perform the cultural rites of five world intangible heritages.

They are “nha nhac” (Hue Royal Court music), “quan ho” (Bac Ninh love duet), ceremonial singing, xoan singing and gong from the Central Highlands. The heritages were recognised by UNESCO in the 2003-2011 period.

The event, co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Lam Dong province, is an opportunity to further spread the value of the intangible heritages and develop cultural tourism at home and abroad.

On the same day, the ministry and province held a meeting to review the implementation of a five-year national programme to preserve and utilise the value of the space of gong culture in the Central Highlands.

In the past five years, the programme has enhanced the spiritual life of ethnic groups in the Central Highlands, and accelerated socio-economic development in the region.

According to local authorities, in order to preserve the space of gong culture, it is important to protect the cultural environment. Moreover, the work should be completed in unison with other popular cultural practices.

Raising awareness and providing information for local people is also required.
